VHF Contest Rover Plans

This web page describes my Rover plans for the upcoming VHF contest. (Or, if it's out of date, the plans (and/or post-mortem) I had for the last VHF contest I was going to operate in. HI!HI!)

As I've stated on my rover page: I am a Single Op Rover. I drive the car, monitor the GPS, read the map, fiddle with the the radio, holler into the mic, and paper-log QSOs all by myself. I do not attempt to do this whilst underway. My modus operandi is to move to a Great Site - operate - and then move to the next Great Site. I monitor while driving and I will, if I can safely, pull over and make contact(s).

I ask that you spot me on the prop loggers when I am in DM87 or DM88 -- not so much for my benefit, but rather for those ops that need those grid squares filled in.

As with all human endeavors, events often overtake planning. Up to an hour or two before the contest what you read here truly are my plans. Thereafter I am ruled by Murphy's Law.

2010 ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes - Jan 23-25, 1900z Sat - 0359z Sun

I currently have no plans to rover in this contest unless the wx predictions a few days before the contest offer sunny and unseasonally warm temperatures for the contest. (I have - over the years - become a creature that seeks comfort above most all else.  HI!HI!)
