UBSC - 5700 S. Ulster~

I made a trip to Denver del Sur in the week after Christmas, 2005. I dropped by UBSC to pick up Bill Caffrey for lunch. I had forgotten all about this 'new' building on the triangle piece of grass on what used to be our vast lawn to the southwest. Folks used to laugh about that small piece of property, and "What fool would want to own it?" It seemed way too small to erect any sort of practical building. Well...

It being a bright and sunny day, I took my camera and went out to the traffic circle to photograph this building.

The perspective above shows the UBSC building in the background (and the 'lame' W F S C tombstone.)  The view below is from further west on the traffic circle.

What is not easily seen in these pictures is the 'function' of the ground level of this building. It is all parking, a stairwell, (probably) an elevator shaft, and a shaft for utilities. There's about a dozen or more parking stalls under there.

I'm a'thinkin' it was designed by an experienced downtown Tokyo architect.  Ha! Ha!

Bill Caffrey tells me that nobody knows what entity is in the building -- what business it conducts --  any of the folks that work there.  Donna Roberts tells me "... the little building on the corner is full of attorneys."  Probably couldn't field a women's softball team....

In case you forgot what it once looked like, you can see the empty triangular piece of property in the old aerial photographs below.  (The B&W photograph is so old that the building to the west of the traffic circle is under construction.)

Notice that in both pictures (the one on the left at approx. 10 A.M., and the one on the right at approx. 11 A.M.) the UBSC parking lot was not even half full...   Saturdays?  Bank holidays?  Do you suppose?
