Don B Stallings, Jr.
February 28, 1940 - October 12, 2018
Denver, Colorado | Age 78
Don, 78, peacefully passed away October 12th, surrounded by family. He
bravely battled Alzheimer's for several years. Don is survived by his
wife of almost 53 years, Mary Ann. He is also survived by his younger
brother, Jack, his son, Dan and daughter, Cathy. He was the proud
grandfather of three grandchildren, Riley, Benjamin and Morgan.
Don was born in Caldwell, Kansas to Don B Stallings Sr. and Viola N. Turner.
Don excelled at mathematics and eventually graduated from the
University of Kansas with a BA in Mathematics and an MBA. He was always
proud to be a Jayhawk. In the summer of 1965, he met the love of his
life, Mary Ann O'Farrell. He knew on their very first date (a blind
date at that) that he would marry her and told her so. She thought he
was crazy. Yet by November 1965, they were married. His professional
career spanned from cartographer for the Air Force to a computer
programmer for Eastman Kodak,
United Bank
and EDS Software.
As much as he enjoyed math and programming, his real passions were his
family, spoiling and indulging Mary Ann by traveling and going to plays,
chocolate doughnuts, reading, taking long walks, all things science
fiction and when they arrived, spending time with his grandkids. He
loved nothing more than playing with Benjamin at the park, watching
Riley sing and perform in her many musicals and playing dolls with
Morgan.
Don was a quiet, kind, patient and endearing soul, loved by all
who met him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in
Don's memory be made to: Alzheimer's Association, Colorado Chapter,
