"Denver Newspaper Agency": N. Berne Hart Norman Berne Hart, 75, of Denver, CO and Rancho Mirage, CA passed away on February 21 [2005]. Born on January 6, 1930 in Denver, Berne married his childhood sweetheart, Wilma Jean Shadley (deceased) on September 17, 1952 after graduating from Colorado College and serving as a Second Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps. After 38 years in banking, Berne retired as Chairman and CEO of United Banks of Colorado in 1992 after the merger with Norwest Bank. Berne's active community involvement included the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary Club of Denver, Lakewood Jaycees, Beta Theta Pi, Saint Joseph's Hospital, Regis University, Colorado College, Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry, Bank Administration Institute, American and Colorado Bankers Associations, Great West Life Assurance, President's Seminar Series, and Federal Reserve Bank. Funeral services will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 W. 29th Ave. in Wheat Ridge on Saturday, February 26 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his fiancee Dorothy F. Smith; children, Linda (John) Frederick, Patti (Doug) Sweeney, and David (Danielle) Hart; and seven grandsons. Berne passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2005 in Palm Springs, CA from liver cancer.
