Alice Palmer
July 28, 1942 -— November 10, 2024November 10, 2024 marked the end of an extraordinary life for an extraordinary woman. Surrounded by her children, Alice Palmer, age 82, peacefully entered eternal rest after a lengthy battle with chronic heart failure.
Alice was born on her mother's birthday, July 28, 1942, in Belton, Missouri, to James and Audrey (Wilkerson) Kennemer. She and her sister, Beverly (Silk) lived throughout Missouri with their family for much of their childhood, before moving to Golden, Colorado for their high school years. Golden would be where Alice met and married her first husband, Larry Roller. Alice and Larry were married in 1963 and their marriage produced a daughter, Roxanne. Tragically, Alice and Larry's marriage came to an end a few years later with Larry's untimely passing to bone cancer.
In 1969. Alice married her second husband, Richard Palmer. This marriage would go on to last 50 years. Shortly after marrying, Alice, Rich and Roxanne moved to a new home in Littleton, Colorado. In 1971 Alice and Rich's son Erik was born. The family remained in that Littleton home until 1989. After Roxanne and Erik had moved out to start their own life's journeys, Alice and Rich were able to move to their favorite vacation city, Estes Park, Colorado. They would remain happily in this home for the next 29 years. This is where they shared the majority of their fondest memories together.
Alice was a dedicated homemaker whose life revolved around her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in nurturing those she loved. A talented cook, Alice was known for filling her home with the delicious scents of her extravagant family Sunday dinners, as well as homemade pies and cookies. Perhaps her most cherished pastime however was reading. Alice read literally thousands of books covering a myriad of subjects. Her favorites though, were the fictional works of authors such as Elizabeth Ogilvie and Morgan Llewellyn.
In 2008, Alice and Rich were finally able to take the vacation they had talked about for years. For six weeks they travelled all throughout Europe. From England to France to Scotland and on to Denmark and Sweden, they shared the beautiful sights, cuisine and cultures of places they had always dreamed of. For the rest of their lives, they would speak fondly and often of this wonderful experience.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Audrey Kennemer and her husband Richard Palmer. She is survived by her sister Beverly Silk; Her daughter, Roxanne Palmer-McDonald; Her son, Erik Palmer; Her grandchildren, Ryan McDonald, Amanda McDonald, Eva Josan-Palmer and her Great granddaughter Riley McDonald. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Alice's light will continue to shine through the memories she created with her family and her legacy of love. Her kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to call her family.
Heaven has gained another angel and we take comfort in knowing she is watching over us all. May she rest in peace.
