The best way to check for upcoming events is the COMSA site, and more specifically the open water section. Check it out if you want to compete.

View Larger Map Instruction for the park (June, 2009). Zoom the map in and out with the "+" and "-" buttons. Once you get into the park, you can pay at the entrance or, if you're there before the entrance station opens, buy a day pass at the self-service station right inside. Once in, turn right and go all the way south until the ring road curves to the left. The gravel pond is on the right (south). You'll see entrances to the right and the left. You'll probably have to park on the left (north) side of the ring road since there are only a dozen or so parking spaces on the south side. DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD!! Park rangers give tickets
willy nilly. Park only in designated spots.
The swims start from the north side of the gravel pit and you'll likely find scuba classes on the east side of that area.
