Written by Ceci Townsend What a glorious day at the 4 Loops for Fun at Prospect Park. Beautiful sunny morning, warm water(even Carrie and Karen didn't object after getting started) and a great swim crowd. We were surprised by all the swimmers, young and older... USA was also having a 9k and 6k swim along with the Masters 6k and 6k relay. Lots of fresh faces as eager as the three of us. After receiving our instructions (hard to hear), sunscreen, vasoline, bright orange caps, goggles fitted... we armed ourselves with the thought of our rewards AFTER the swim (lunch) and headed into the wonderful refreshing water. Carrie and I paced each other on the first two laps... with me off on my own, Karen joined the water and the last two loops were completed. After the final loops much fun occurred with talk of weeds, sun, goggles filling with water(me), being laped by the senior 9k swimmers (they did get a 13 min head start), strategies, aches and pains, and the glorious finish banner that we had to hit to be officially finished. As Carrie often says... What Fun. Yes it was.
